Plugsound is a real time plug-in that works like a sound module. Each
volume provides over 600 Mb of high quality sampled sounds that you can
instantly play and modify through the console of your favorite audio
sequencer. Changes you make to the parameters of each sound are saved
directly in the sequence, allowing you to store your music, your sounds
and your patches all in one file!

Each Plugsound volume is a virtual instrument based on a professional
sample library, available as a VST2 plug-in (Mac-PC), as well as a MAS
and RTAS plug-in on the Mac. The concept is that when you buy Plugsound
you buy a sound library. But instead of getting a CDROM for your
sampler, slow and clumsy to use, you can use the sound library directly
in your sequencer. It is a virtual sample library.

    		Plugsound says of their products...

A little history: Most people want to buy a sampler to read and play
sound library discs (like a super tone module, in a way). With Plugsound
you donÕt need to own a sampler, it comes for free with the sound
library. In practice you donÕt loose anything, you gain much in
    		simplicity, quality and efficiencyÉ

A dream come true: For years weÕve hoped that one day a computer would be
a complete recording studio. WeÕre here: with a current computer (even a
laptop), a sequencer and some Plugsound, you can produce great music,
mix it and release it! Enjoy total recall, enjoy not to have to buy any
other sound sourceÉ WeÕve made Plugsound compatible with Cubase and
Logic (on both Mac and PC), and also with Digital Performer and Pro
Tools on the Mac, so weÕre certainly not the ones to restrict you to a
specific sequencer. The dream has finally come true, and Plugsound is an
important part of this portable studio. As musicians, the Plugsound team
is the first to enjoy the advantages of making music with Plugsound.

Simplicity: Plugsound is all about simplicity. You buy a sound library
that you can open directly in your sequencer, and that will be saved
with your file. It is a simple VST2/MAS/RTAS plug-in. All the controls
are grouped in one window. You can switch between a basic and an expert
mode: in both cases all controls are immediately visible. In use, itÕs
as simple as selecting a reverb on an audio track of your favourite
sequencer. There is no simpler way to open the biggest sounding patches
    		collection available today.

The sound library: The most important in Plugsound is the quality and
variety of the sound library: after all, this is what youÕre buying!
WeÕve been developing sampled sound libraries on CD-ROM for ten years,
and this experience means weÕre extra careful about which patches make
the cut. Each Plugsound comes with 600 MB of carefully selected patches.
A tone module will probably offer you 32 or 64 MB of sounds: Plugsound
gives ten times more, and just as carefully selected, for a lot less
money. The best is probably to give the sounds a try: check out the
included Demo CDROM. WeÕre sure youÕll be blown away by the sounds.

Innovation: Plugsound innovates by being simultaneously available for
VST2, MAS and RTAS. It is the first virtual sound library with several
volumes immediately available, and the easiest sample CD-ROM youÕve ever
used. Plugsound is also the first sound library to use the extraordinary
UVI engine. This virtual instrument powers Plugsound and gives it the
excellent transposition, mono mode and filtering that makes it one of
the best-sounding electronic instruments ever made. Plugsound is one of
the best plug-ins as far as resource optimization is concerned: more
notes and more simultaneous instruments than most virtual synth and
samplers. Plugsound is the best-sounding tool available, it is also the
easiest to use, meant to keep you playing music, not fighting with
complicated machines The extended compatibility of Plugsound doesnÕt
stop at Mac and PC computers. Plugsound inaugurates better compatibility
between studios: when you save a sequence in New-York using Plugsound,
it includes all the Plugsound settings (including MIDI-driven ones like
cutoff). So you can send the file to a studio in L.A. and with their
copy of Plugsound the sequence will play exactly like it did in your
studio. Whether you use Rocket Network or just email to exchange work,
PlugsoundÕs compatibility will simplify your life even furtherÉ

Sound Control: At the top sits the sound selection section, and the
polyphony selector which allows to further optimize your Plugsound. The
primary filter is a multimode model, with key follow and envelope amount
knobs. Filter and Amplitude envelopes are provided, the filter envelope
drives the primary filter. These controls allows precise tone-shaping of
each preset. Below is the UVI-filter with cutoff and resonance controls:
this cool filter behaves as a lowpass on the left and a hipass on the
right, and can be driven by MIDI continuous controllers. The transpose
section give you over 4 octaves of freedom each way. Regarding
expression, the four curve symbols define how Plugsound reacts to
velocity (linear, hard, soft, constant). The pitch bend range is
different for each preset. The Mono mode has a glide control to define
the time between two notes. A LFO is provided for special effects
(tremolo, vibratoÉ). Volume and Pan controls are provided for maximum
flexibility before entering sound effect plug-ins. Volume also reacts to
    		Continuous Controller 7.

How it works: Plugsound is a plug-in that will open in your compatible
sequencer. As a virtual instrument, it will then show up in your MIDI
destinations list. You can then play it live or use it to voice a MIDI
recording. On the instrument (or audio) track you can decide which audio
output the plug-in uses, as well as any additional audio effects you may
want to add. ItÕs that simple. Plugsound will use your computerÕs RAM
and processing power to play, so the faster the computer, the more
powerful your Plugsound will be. Plugsound has run through optimization
cycles several times for increased polyphony. The memory requirements
depends on the sound you load from. This days, RAM is very cheap so
donÕt hesitate to stock up before loading Plugsound. This way, youÕll
    		probably never feel limited.

Interface: Plugsound offers 2 views. The main difference is that the full
view shows more controls. The small view offers the most important
sound-shaping tools. The idea is to be able to leave it open all the
time in your sequencer without cluttering your screen. When you want to
make finer edits to the sound, click on the Plugsound logo at the
lower-left corner and the full view will appear. You can now access the
envelopes, the 2nd filter, and other controls. Sound Selection can be
made with the pull-down menu, or by clicking the arrows next to the
sound menu, which allow the user to move up or down in the sound
library. If you use the menus, youÕll find the sounds conveniently
arranged by kind in submenus. The output level can be controlled by MIDI
(as the resonance and filter cutoff controls), and the Mono Mode switch
engages the most convincing mono-legato mode ever designed on a virtual
    		instrument.
